Analysis of college magazine

Looking at this magazine cover i instantly noticed the soup can, this suggests to me ideas about the ways students look after them selves, by not cooking real meals and being quite content living of soup. (rather suffer than make the effort). I like the layout of this magazine and the edgey feel it provides through the graffics and text. Around the backdrop picture of a sub, you can see it has destortded edges this emphisises the rebelious attitude of the students in this genertation. The sub is turned up to full volume, this is very interesting as it supports societies teenage image. Looking closely i noticed this magazine doesnt have a barcode, i dont know why this is wether the designer had simply forgotten or its is like this for a reason, maybe being designed with it on the back. Nor can i see a price, this may be because my image is too small to read the small print text. I can clearly see that this cover is based around three main contrasting colours, red, black and white. I think this is very effective as you can use it to hightlight and lowlight the importance of particular areas of the magazine. I really enjoy the font used, its modern and up to date, the way the editor has titled the block of text, 'Ingredients' supports the original idea of teenage disorganisation. I think this cover is aimed towards all students as the unisex colours and style of this magazine shows. The variation between subheadings suggests this magazine is about general interests and you dont have to be from a particular sterotype to find this appealing.
